Hospital Blues

After exiting the mirror world, it had been agreed that hospitalization would be the best option. Calling an ambulance, Seiya had been driven to the hospital in order to be examined and treated. Once stabilized, the nurses ceased fussing over her wounds. Great, a bandaged hand and a gouged side. Fighting in the mirror world would be the death of her if she continued to go in alone. Alone... Loneliness crept up on her as the blank walls seemed to close in. She wondered how anyone would know where she was. Her father didn't really bother keeping up with her, and her cell phone was back in her bag at the school. Staring at the ceiling, Seiya just listened to the hum of the machines.

Greg seemed curious enough about the story, one hand on his chin and eyes actually off of his phone to pay attention to her. "Sounds... Uh, easy, to be honest. Means I could just say I accept whatever it is, and uh... You know, be fine." It was probably a whole lot different, but that sounded good in his head. "Getting beaten around isn't good, though. If it gives you a way to fight them..." Hmmm. Yeah, the boy could easily say that he wanted one. He was also curious, now, about what sort of 'repressed feelings' it might go and have...

Oh well, he'd dismiss it for now. Gregory turned to Seiya with a slight tilt of his head. "Anything to add?"

"Well, maybe it sounds simple... when you're not the one being confronted with that stuff." She clicked her tongue slightly. It hadn't been a very enjoyable experience.

"Weapons, huh?" she rubbed her chin, and nodded. "I think I'd have something suitable..."

He shrugged off the supposed danger for the moment... Not like Greg would be getting in that situation anytime soon, at least he told himself so. The boy wanted one of these 'Personas', but it wasn't a desire great enough that he'd go leaping into every mirror in sight. "I dunno, uh, maybe it is harder. I don't really have anything... We just moved here, uh, see? Might've been weird bringing a weapon into the country." Not that either him or his father were the violent sort!

... At least Ren could get away with what she intended to use. A baseball bat wouldn't attract attention at all if you also carried a sports equipment bag along with you.

Ren blinked but dismissed the weird English Seiya suddenly spouted. "You mean to see how it mirrors it?" She scratched her cheek. From what she could remember, it was overall a mirrored replica, only distorted, but perhaps something might have changed since the incident. "Okay, but I wonder how long it will take before the bathroom opens up again. The popo could be there for weeks trying to gather evidence."

Greg's lips twitched with the odd and out of place English; it looked for a moment like he was going to smile but it never came. Crisis averted! "I'm not sure a gun would, uh... Be the best choice. Smaller ones would be easy to hide, but if I get caught with it I can't really explain that. 'I take it inside the mirror, officer' just makes me sound, uh... Crazy." Seiya's offer was still appreciated, though, and she'd probably be his best bet to get anything around here. "I'll take whatever I can get, if you can find something."

In response to the bathroom question, well... "Uh, I was there... The clean-up alone is going to take a while. You saw the pictures, yeah? Probably something to, uhhh... Bench for the moment. Sneaking in wouldn't really be a good idea, either."

Ren scratched her chin again. "Well, there's the boys' bathroom next to it, right? Maybe if we go in from there, we can reach the other side's girls' bathroom. Failing that, there are a bunch of other mirrors in the school." Maybe they could find one from a gender-neutral place where they wouldn't risk being caught sneaking into the wrong bathroom.

"... What if all the mirrors in the city are connected? That'd be a huge network."

"Well, uh, we've seen things happen in a few mirrors now... It seems like any of them can be used, you probably just have to know how to open them." But unfortunately... "We don't, heh. So, uh... Unless we can figure that out, I don't know. Maybe you can only do it from the other side." That would make most sense, though they seem to know almost nothing... It's a little frustrating, if Greg's going to be honest.

"I just hope there's more people like you two. Maybe more people that, uh, know a little bit more than us." Wow, he talked a lot, huh? Upon noticing that, though, Gregory shuts up and sits back in his seat again. "That's, uh... That's just my two..." No, two yen probably didn't make sense, here. "My opinion, anyway."

Oh... was opening the mirrors an issue? Ren had only gone through one thus far, but she figured if you had the 'power' or whatever, you could go through them at will. Or... well... she didn't know, but she made a note to try at home.

"In any case, it'll be a bit until we try again, right? How long are you supposed to stay in here for, Yaya-senpai?"

Yeah, it'd probably be forever... Unless something came up, at any rate. Bah! Greg wanted a persona for himself, but he really didn't want to go through a 'test' like that. There had to be some easy, lazy way, right? He was all for those. "Yeah, I'd like to know, too. Don't know how bad it is, uh, so..." For all he knew, she was missing a chunk of her or something! Her dad just said 'injured'. Now he felt like a shitty friend, whoops! Then again, the boy never made much of an effort to be a great one... Whatever.

"I'd offer to bring you notes, but uh... You're a grade above me, so."

"Do you have any friends in your class you could get in contact with...?" Oh, right, that reminded her! Contacting! "Oh right- since I guess we'll be working together, it would help to have each other's contact info." She pulled her cell phone out of her pocket and pushed a few buttons until she was on her 'add contact' page.

"Oh..! Right, yeah, that makes sense. I'm always looking at my phone, so uh... I won't miss a call or a text." Greg gave his phone number to Ren and presumably received hers in return. He added her to his phone's contact list and then turned expectantly to Seiya... The boy was pretty sure she had one. Everyone had one, these days, and it seemed especially true around here. Of course, a surprising lack of students seemed to have a smartphone like him.

She nodded, typing Greg and then Seiya's numbers into her phone; what they didn't see was that she added them in under seemingly nondescriptive nicknames. Once that was done, she took the pad and wrote down her number in clear, slightly square characters.

"'Dunno what you could do about missed work, though, short on one of us walking into your class and asking someone..."

Greg jotted his number down on the pad when it was given and then added Seiya to his phone. His dad would be happy to hear that he was making friends here... Even if these only counted as 'friends' for the necessity of contact. Eh, whatever, it'd get the guy off of his back.

"I stick out enough already, uh, walking into a third year class seems like it'd go oddly." Or maybe that was just an American thing and he was being weird. Ehh, either way... "You'll be okay though, yeah? It's probably only a few days of work you're missing."
