(OOC: A loose post to just kind of get the hang of things and test the waters c:)

It was the beginning of yet another school term. Seiya stood in her family's store, sweeping the tile as time seemed to stands still. Yamada Mart had become a staple of their little area, yet the rate of customers was dwindling. Blaming it on local crime seemed cliche, yet Seiya couldn't help but wonder if the two were related. Setting her broom aside, she went to restock the shelves, eyeing the clock. Better opportunities awaited at quittin' time. The bell above the door chimed, causing her to turn and give a small bow. "Welcome to Yamada Mart." Halfheartedly, she turned back to her work, sighing.

(( GOOD THING THE PARENT BUTTON MAKES IT READABLE, SHIT ))

Oh. He'd partially thought she was joking, in the first place. "Uhhh..." If Seiya hadn't noticed by now, Greg had a tendency to make that noise when he was either thinking or had nothing better to say. "I mean, if you've got evidence or something..? More than just 'a hunch', is what I'm saying." The boy shifted in his seat and pulled the soda forward, now that he'd finished lunch. "It's just a strange thing to come out and say. If that makes sense."

"To be fair, you didn't know me before today. The thing I mentioned happened a week ago..." Gregory shrugged, and then took a look at Jumbo. "What about him? Did he get..." He didn't really know the word. The boy made the choice to rephrase, rather than make himself look more like an idiot. Or a stupid foreigner. Maybe both? "Is he included?"

"Well, it's just a weird thing to up and say. Now that you, uh... Explained it, it doesn't sound as crazy." It still sounded crazy, to be perfectly honest, but he was bringing her down gently. It was a surprising show of consideration, at least. Something told him she'd end up taking it as support either way, though... And it was a good thing he didn't care too much about his public image, at that. "You must see a lot of crime, then."

Greg watched that one too, looking somewhat impressed with the distance. "You'd get a uniform and a shiny badge, uh, at least." He shrugged, and then leaned back in his seat with a slight sigh at the question. It was one he always hated answering, because clubs were just such a... 'Thing' here. It hadn't been that way in America, and so... "Uhh... Nnno. I don't really have time, and I haven't even really looked at what's available." Something told him part of 'acclimating him' or whatever Seiya had said included joining a club.

Another person in English club? This was the second he'd met, how peculiar. The first was at his job... Well, the daughter of the cafe's owner, actually. "Is that right? I don't think I'd get much use out of that one." Greg gestured at himself as if to point out that he was the whitest kid in the room, and then turned around in time to see some poor sap get hit with an ice cube. The guy immediately turned, and Gregory had to whip back around to face Seiya pretty quickly.

"Shit. Do you think he saw me?" There was a small hint of a smile on the boy's face; she'd somehow managed that. It was funny, though, so how could he not? Greg took a sip of his soda to mask it.

Greg looked around rather than following her under the table, just to make sure they weren't getting any dirty looks from the waitstaff... Everything seemed all right, though. Something told him Seiya did this kind of thing a lot. "Uhh... I dunno, I can't say I've ever even flicked an ice cube, before."

He did pluck one out of his half-finished soda regardless, and then gave it his best shot. Not at anyone in particular, though; Greg chose instead to launch his at the backrest of Seiya's booth now that she was apparently hiding. It hit with more velocity than he'd predicted and simply bounced back onto the table with a small clatter. "Huh."

With an eyebrow lifted, Greg set three of his ice cubes down at the table and then chewed on his lip absently while looking for a 'target'. "You're not going to hit that same guy, right? Get the feeling I'd be the one with, uhh... A bloody nose, at the end of the day." It was hard to find a living target, actually, that seemed a little rude! He figured that he'd aim for something a little more challenging instead: There was a hat placed a little precariously on the corner of a table nearby; if he could dislodge that it'd have to be worth some kind of cred.

Whether or not she could take him, Greg really didn't like any kind of altercation! It seemed she'd given in, though, and he breathed a slight sigh of relief while they both apparently took aim. He gnawed at his lip some more in concentration and then let his fly as soon as Seiya did the same. His first two missed the hat entirely, clacking uselessly on the ground when they didn't go far enough, and then the final one bounced off of that table's edge and pegged one of its customers right in the chest. It slid right down the woman's shirt while poor Gregory watched on in horror, and then immediately straightened up to face his tablemate.

There was an "Eeeiyaaah!" from the direction he'd launched his cube, and then the woman stood up to shake and wiggle a little oddly until the cube dropped onto the floor.

Greg considered himself totally dead, at this point, if she'd seen him. To make things worse, it was hard not to laugh!

Poor Greg looked a mixture of guilty and about-to-laugh, lips pursed and eyes a little wide. Seiya's roaring laughter wasn't helping him stay subtle, and now he was getting a death glare from the woman who'd just done her little ice-shirt-dance. "Shhhshsh! We're gonna get-- Hrrk-- Gonna get in trouble..!" Luckily for him, the clearly offended woman just sat down and resigned to giving him death glares for likely the rest of forever. Gregory let out an odd chuckle rather than a sigh of relief, thoroughly suppressed. This guy refused to have a good time!

Well, he could handle dirty glares... That was fine. Greg grunted slightly when the ice cube pegged him square in the chest, casting a flat sort of glare in Seiya's direction. It didn't seem like he was going to stay 'loosened up' as she'd called it for very long. The boy had another sip of his soda, now with significantly fewer ice cubes, and then leaned back in his seat once again. "I'm plenty relaxed. That's all I do, even in class, Seiyaaa..." Shit, he said her name. Shit, shit, shit. "... -San?" He tried not to sound confused... Gregory was pretty sure that was the right one!

He shrugged with the question, choosing not to answer. It sort of felt like all eyes were on them, now, and most of those eyes were just below some very angry eyebrows. Greg had the urge to change the subject, with that thought! "Do you work there every day? Yamada Mart, I mean. It's on my way home from school, so..." He didn't really have a way to finish that, actually. The boy made a slight face. "Y'know. Just wondering." It wasn't like he planned to offer his patronage, or anything!

"Well, your game cards are cheaper than the place I usually go. So are the drinks... I'll come by, when I get a chance." Greg nodded, though he didn't sound particularly committed. That was practiced and intentional, of course! "Can you just... Uhh, close it at any time?" Seiya had done it awfully hastily today!

Well, it seemed like they had things in common! At least in the daddy department... Sort of. Greg shrugged yet again, that seemed to be his default-idle-motion over there. "So, uhh..." How was he going to phrase this? "Tell me more about that... Uh, crime thing, will you? Got me curious." No, too ambiguous. "... Following you, that is." He'd determined Seiya as not-actually-insane-or-maybe-a-little through conversation, so now it was more intriguing than just rambling madness.
